Application Notes

Application Notes below are in PDF format. Click on the title to view the PDF.
  • FilterSolutions® Designs Using Defected Microstrip Structures (DMS)

Nuhertz Technologies has introduced a feature in its FilterSolutions program to deal with design of filters utilizing Defected Microstrip Structures (DMS). When used with A WR's Microwave Office©, this new modeling capability enables engineers to achieve the accurate synthesis of stripline, microstrip or suspended substrate filter designs in which the use of these resonators proves to be advantageous.

  • A Design Flow for Rapid and Accurate Filter Prototyping

It is the purpose of this application note to outline a robust yet flexible method for the design of lumped element filters using Modelithics Microwave Global Models™, Nuhertz Technologies' FilterSolutions® software, and NI/AWR Design Environment™ software, specifically AXIEM® electromagnetic (EM) simulation.

  • Accurate High Frequency Lumped Filter Design with Discrete Optimization

FilterSolutions®, the world leading filter design software created by Nuhertz Technologies, works in conjunction with Modelithics® to synthesize and optimize lumped LC filter designs at frequencies up to at least 5 GHz. The filter circuit synthesis is initially created in FilterSolutions. Modelithics models provide high frequency accuracy, and the discrete optimization is provided in National Instruments’ Microwave Office®.

  • AWR® Fast Axiem® Port Tuning Tutorial

For exceptionally easy, fast, and accurate planar synthesis and optimizations using Nuhertz with NI AWR Design Environment/AXIEM® 3D planar EM simulator, see application note, Nuhertz ANAWR103 MiniHairpin Filter.pdf.

  • Miniaturized Hairpin Filter Design with FilterSolutions® and Sonnet Software’s em® Analysis Program in Microwave Office®

This application note illustrates the technique for creating a design for a miniaturized microwave hairpin filter design. The paper follows the synthesized design created by FilterSolutions® as it is optimized by using the Sonnet electromagnetic analysis program. Further processing for simulation and optimization of the circuit is made possible in NI-AWR Corporation’s Microwave Office® program, an important tool used in this study.

  • Discrete Optimization White Paper

Accurate High Frequency Lumped Filter Design with Discrete Optimization. FilterSolutions®, the world leading filter design software created by Nuhertz Technologies. works in conjunction with Modelithics® to synthesize and optimize lumped LC filter designs at frequencies up to at least 5 GHz. The filter circuit synthesis is initially created in FilterSolutions. Modelithics models provide high frequency accuracy, and the discrete optimization is provide in National Instruments' Microwave Office®.

  • Reduce Filter Part Count by Strategic Constriction of Passband and Stopband Ripple

FilterSolutions®,  filter design software by Nuhertz Technologies, is capable of designing filters with severe board space constrictions, minimizing the number of components needed to achieve several contradictory objectives. This effort demands that the design program incorporates advanced design techniques targeted to minimize physical size without incurring other additional design costs.

  • “Single Point Ripple™” Filter Synthesis Capability added to Latest Release of FilterSolutions ®

Nuhertz has just released a new version of FilterSolutions® containing the new Single Point Ripple (SPR) design feature for the synthesis of Chebyshev and Elliptic filter designs. This design capability is an enhancement of the “Automated Parameter Synthesis”* (APS)” utility, introduced in earlier versions of the program.

  • How FilterSolutions Port Tuning Makes Filter Designs More Efficient

Nuhertz Technologies has partnered with AWR to produce rapid and accurate optimization of the electromagnetic response of a wide variety of filters through the use of specialized tuning ports in AXIEM and Microwave Office.
